As explained on the Home page, Reiki generally means Universal Life Force, or Universal Life Energy. What Reiki IS, is a healng technique based on the premise that Universal Life Force/Energy flows in us, through us, and around us, and every living and non-living thing. For example, you may have read somewhere maybe, that someone would recommend the use of a juicer, that it is healthier than canned, bottled or frozen juices, since it contains more of the natural life force of the fruit/vegetable. After the fruit/vegetable has been harvested, the natural life force starts to drain out of it. Since it is necessary to have Life Force/Energy in order to be alive, if one's Life Force/Energy is "low", then one is more likely to get ill, or dis-eased. Reiki is a session where Universal Life Force/Energy is channeled through the practitioner into the energy field of the client, with a specific intent for relaxation and/or healing. As the Universal Life Force/Energy is channeled into the client, the client's Higher Wisdom absorbs what is needed for the healing to occur and the remainder, if any goes back out into the universe, or may be dedicated to a specific purpose by the practitioner (ie., into the Mother Earth to help with her healing). The channeling of the Universal Life Force/Energy in the form of Reiki, is NOT an exchange of the practitioner's and/or the client's energies in any way. The practitioner has been opened and attuned to channel the Life Force/Energy from the Universe, not him- or herself. And the practitioner is not the "healer", but rather, the client is the healer. Reiki can NEVER be used for harm. Reiki is always safe, and can never be "overdosed", as the body has a "Higher Wisdom", and Reiki energy only goes where it is needed. For example, if the client has a headache and is having Reiki at his/her head, but the origin of the headache is is the stomach, the Reiki energy will go to the stomach. This also means that a healing may NOT appear to take place. As the stated intent might be for one specific healing to take place, but an entirely different healing occurs. Or it may also mean that the client needs the specific dis-ease at the time in order to learn something from it. However, Reiki will always create beneficial effects, and Reiki has been known to be effective in helping virtually every known illness and dis-ease.
Other sources of Ki (Life Force/Energy) We also receive Life Force/Energy from the air we breathe and the food we eat. Therefore, breathing exercises can increase Life Force/Energy, as can fresh fruits and vegetables. Our bodies also absorb and store Life Force/Energy while we sleep, and when we meditate.
