The following is an illustration of the 7 Basic Chakras:

Chakra (generally pronounced "Shok-ra") is a Sanskrit word meaning "wheel".  Fully functioning chakras spin in a clockwise motion, at a certain rate of speed or frequency.  Chakras store and transmit Universal Life Energy.  Chakras are the means by which we draw life energy from the universe.

The First Chakra is called the Root Chakra.  Its color is red, and its location is at the base of the tailbone.  It is the root of your being, and your connection to Mother Earth.  The primary drive of this chakra is survival, and it is the most instinctive of the chakras.

The Second Chakra is the Spleen or Sacral Chakra.  Its color is orange, and its location is below the naval in the lower abdomen.  It is the chakra that drives the desire to enjoy your existence.  The primary drive of this chakra is the search for pleasure.

The Third Chakra is the Solar Plexus Chakra.  Its color is yellow, and its location is at the base of the sternum.  This is the chakra that represents the drive for power.  The primary drive of this chakra is the search for the self as a self-assertive individual with beliefs and principles for which you are willing to take a stand.
